I love it I really have fallen for these guys! I have a masdie hybrid and I am so hoping I can get it to flower it gets moved to the ktichen each night where it is cooler and brought in by day as my curtains were catching the leaves and was worreid it would damage them I want to get some more but need to know I can keep this one alive and flower it it has 3 new leaves growing which is surely a good sign, thank you for sharing yours and well done on growing such a beauty.

intermediate (lower range, but some times goes a bit warm here), medium light, good ventilation, growing in Sphag, which is always wet (almost too wet for my test, but its working) and spraying 4 times daily (automatic)... I have the plants since about one month and was was very surprised to see it spiking and blooming that quick without bud blasting (ok, I must admit I got it with one little spike, but has developed 6 more here)...

I was recommended to grow it like Masdevallia strobelli, which I grow as described above since more than one year. I also grow Masdevallia lilacina next to this one (got both plants at the same time), and both are doing well so far (the first two Masdies I have tried were dead within 4 weeks!), none ofthem has lost a single leaf

Important tip from a Masdie fan (a friend with [currently] more 500 plants): pure water, and very low fertilizer (only once a month)...

According to his advice, temp is not the biggest issue and (he says that) all Masdevallias can be more or less adapted to intermediate temps. Important is that they are alway wet and well ventilated, and that the night temps go as low as possible (funny: 3 or 4 months after his advice, we received the Orchid Digest Vol. 72-4. There is an article from Lynn O'Shaughnessy in there, and she starts the "Temperature" chapter with more or less the same words )

That is absolutely stunning, Ramón! Seriously gorgeous. The color of this one is really fantastic. Never seen a Masdie in this color before. Amazing!

My sister loves purple, and I showed her the pic on msn earlier, and now she wants me to get one! (this is coming from a person who has zero interest in orchids, other than the blooms!).
She just gave me an excuse to do some orchid shopping! And I discovered that I can grow masdies quite well (reblooming it will be another matter) as my masdie bicolor just took off this month, with 7 new growths! I got it as a division at a show in October, and at the rate it's growing it's going to be a specimen plant in no time at all!
