intermediate (lower range, but some times goes a bit warm here), medium light, good ventilation, growing in Sphag, which is always wet (almost too wet for my test, but its working) and spraying 4 times daily (automatic)... I have the plants since about one month and was was very surprised to see it spiking and blooming that quick without bud blasting (ok, I must admit I got it with one little spike, but has developed 6 more here)...
I was recommended to grow it like Masdevallia strobelli, which I grow as described above since more than one year. I also grow Masdevallia lilacina next to this one (got both plants at the same time), and both are doing well so far (the first two Masdies I have tried were dead within 4 weeks!), none ofthem has lost a single leaf
Important tip from a Masdie fan (a friend with [currently] more 500 plants): pure water, and very low fertilizer (only once a month)...
According to his advice, temp is not the biggest issue and (he says that) all Masdevallias can be more or less adapted to intermediate temps. Important is that they are alway wet and well ventilated, and that the night temps go as low as possible (funny: 3 or 4 months after his advice, we received the Orchid Digest Vol. 72-4. There is an article from Lynn O'Shaughnessy in there, and she starts the "Temperature" chapter with more or less the same words
)
