Question My new Pleurothallis grobyi

Questions Questions. I have a new Pleurothallis grobyi that I brought back from Atlanta. I live in Ft. Collins, CO. What is the best way to keep the little guy alive. Currently it is in a small clear plastic pot. Bark, clay balls, coconut shavings, those crumbly little white rocks with sphagnum moss on top. What would make the best growing medium. Should it be put in a terrarium, window sill..? How should it be watered (it has lost some leaves already). Still pretty new to this and would love some words of wisdom and advice. Thanks

Welcome to the board Emily! I have a P. grobyi but it has never bloomed for me yet so I am not the best at growing these little ones. I would say put it in a terrarium with low light and lots of humidity. I have mine in sphagnum and never let it completely dry out.

I have a few of these and they flower quite often. I have mine stick mounted in a greenhouse but I know many people who use them in terrariums. They need high humidity and shade. Mine are in pretty bright shade and they seem to like it.

High humdity is very important for this plant... Greenhouse or Terrarium would help a lot!

It likes intermediate temperatures. Grow in shade to bright shade. At least 60% humidity. I like to grow small Pleuros mounted on tree fern fiber and use enough moss to cover the roots. Do not allow to dry out completely. Let the medium dry out to the point where there is still a little bit of moisture left and then water again. When it blooms, it will push out multiple spikes at once and bloom all together. Flowers have no fragrance.
