Sorry, Mauro. This one is just too weird for me! I like "pretty."

Dana, the flowers are small, but really interesting. The plant stands well our hot summer days (nights are always fresh).

Really cool! I like the baby bird image, haha. I'm thinking of getting one, but I don't know if I could keep up the humidity needed since I don't have a terrarium.

You can grow these without a terrarium. It might be easier to do a humidifier instead.

The humidity is mostly to simulate the moisture from the clouds.

Oh right, forgot about humidifiers. Now to find a cheap-ish one, lol! King, mind sharing your setup for optimal effects?

It depends on where you plan to grow. If you have a basement, that works. You just need some shop lights and the humidifier.

If you're growing in a spare room in the house, you can use the humidifier in there. Again, you may need shop lights. If the spare room has a window, it'll work too. Dracula spp. generally don't need a lot of light.

You may even grow in a bathroom and have the humidifier timed. You may need supplemental lighting if the bathroom doesn't have a window or enough light coming through the window.

There's no need for an aquarium to grow Dracula spp. In fact, it's probably better if you don't use an aquarium. They like good air circulation.

I had Dracula sodiroi growing outdoors before, and it bloomed just fine. This is atypical though. Most Dracula spp. do not bloom very well if the humidity is too low. The plants themselves will grow just fine if the humidity doesn't fall below 50% - 60%.

Ahaha, well, I don't think I could grow it in an aquarium anyways, since I don't have one. I'm in college right now, so perhaps it isn't a good idea to get touchier plants until I have a more permanent residence. All of my plants are on the living room windowsill and a little side table where they get decent indirect lighting. At the moment, my pleuros include a Masd. dynastes, Drac. lotax, Scaph. breve and Scaph. microdactylum. We'll see how they do in a modified version of RJSquirrel's fishbowl method. Otherwise, the room they are in is usually somewhere between 50-60% humidity. I'm not sure how a pendulous dracula would do, especially since it needs to hang. It sounds like a humidifier would be the easiest way to keep up the humidity for the pleuros I cannot utilize the fishbowl method for.

Actually...

Dracula mopsus is a weed. It has been known to take over a shadehouse once established. I'd probably say it's probably easier to grow than Dracula lotax.

Dracula sodiroi has upright spikes, as does Dracula levii. There are a few others that have upright spikes as well, but I just don't recall what they are.

I was going to ask how easy mopus is to grow! I have lotax and would like to get other warmth tolerant, mini dracs.
