Default Masdevallia on 1/1/09

Here are some of my Masdevallia in bloom on 1/1/09.
From left to right they are:

Masdevallia (Sunny Angel x Angel Frost). This one just started blooming for me a couple of months ago. Seems to just put out 1 or 2 blooms at a time with a few weeks pause in between.

Masdevallia Joyce Stewart. A real favorite of mine. It’s hard for me to grow any of the really bright ones (cool-growing). If any of you Masdie growers know of any that are warm-intermediate growing, of the bright red/pink varieties, please let me know what they are. This one IS a nice bright orange with the bloom (ex-“whiskers”) about the size of a nickel. It also blooms regularly, but only 1 or 2 at a time.

Masdevallia mejiana. I wish Joyce Stewart was as floriferous as this guy. Right now it has 13 open blooms, about 15 more buds/spikes, and apparently still more coming.

Ed

Great growing, Ed! Those are very pretty blooms, and a great way to start off the New Year - they even look kinda like fireworks!
