Not sure what variety this is, does not exactly match any of the pics except the for the maroon variety. But even then, this one seems to be a bit alba in color. I hope the sepals open up a bit more, but in all the past bloomings it has not. However, this is a much improved flower because this is the longest peduncle it has had in all the blooming events since I purchased this little guy in 2006. It is the first time the flower has extended well above the foliage. However, this time there was only 1 bloom. Hopefully it will decide to send out more spikes soon.
Here is a new picture. It has opened up quite a bit more.

Here are some pictures of what its supposed to look like. What do you guys think. Is this a case of mistaken identity, or am I not giving the plant what it needs? Or worse, do I have a defective Masdie??

Seems ok to me,sometime a plant will do its own thing and be unlike all the others, just like people.
