Default Masd. coccinea var. Harryanum

OMG! SBOE! Orderd this last week. Was not expecting such a huge plant! The website described it as specimen size but the guy on the phone said it wasnt a monster plant. I would like to know his idea of a monster plant indeed! This sucker stands about 3 feet tall with the spikes, of wich there are seven! Ill post pics of the blooms when they are open.

Masdevallia coccinea can grow quite large clumps much larger than this plant. This is a nice good size division!

It looks like fushia or hot pink or violet to me. Amazing!!! I love it. So big though.

It does look bright violet in the picture, but reds are very difficult to photograph true to color. Masd. coccinea is quite variable in color, ranging from scarlet red to violet/red to purple to pink. Also there are albinisitic versions of pure yellow and white. One could grow quite a spectrum of colors with just this species!
