Dracula Inequalis in bloom

Found this guy at a greenhouse in NH for 15 bucks about 4 months ago. This is it's first bloom for me and i see about 4 others coming!

Looks great! Get ready though, they can put on quite a show. Mine did a single bloom not long after I got it, then put out 11 after it acclimated for 6 months. Now those spikes are telescoping out with another set of buds added to a few more peeking out from the base of the plant. Now I’m so tempted to try my luck with some more cooler growing varieties.

It's got another 3 coming already! my orchidarium can reach up to 80... what are some of the other hotter growing dracula's? i bought this on sale and was unaware whether cold or warm growing.

Here is my Masdevallia sernae I/W (today), and Dracula inaequalis (a few weeks ago). Dracula labeled as intermediate to cool growing. I think your best bet is to talk to the growers that you want to order from and see if they are growing on the warmer side, less shock for the plant. Most of the species I’d be interested in adding would need a larger space and likely a little summer cooling... which I’m considering after promising myself I’d never try that again.

Dracula benedictii is a flower machine and doesn't seem to be all that sensitive to summer heat. Actually, I have had reasonable success with Drac. roezlii, Drac. woolwardii, Drac.cordobae, and a couple of others of the big, flat, sequention ones... they open in the cool of the morning, partly collapse in the heat of the day, and come back the next mornng (sometimes in the evening) But Drac benedictii stays open the whole time, with lots of small, cute flowers. So it's a fairly small plant for all those flowers.
