Is this kind of leaf distortion indicative of anything specific?

Just got this plant as a freebie.

I don't see any problem... the importing process is pretty rough on plants, especially little pleurothallids. They get dry, they get squished in tight boxes... they recover.

I still don't think it's an issue... It could have gotten a little dry or had some other "insult" in its past. If new growth continues to show distortion it could also be genetic. It's all about the flowers...hopefully those will be nice.

I don't know. It could be humidity or root issues. I would start by checking the roots, and then increasing humidity and increase ventilation as I increase humidity (don't want to rot the roots). Masdies are tricky that way.


Also did you check for mites? Mites can lead to leaf shape changes too.
