I love the woodpecker, every morning I sit at the kitchen table and watch the woodpeckers at the feeder.
Thanks for sharing your birds

I feel better about the woodpeckers now, but was not happy with the downies earlier.

Our house was built in 1972, and had the original wood windows. Being in a "woodsy" environment, and having 40+ years on them, the wood trim was "iffy", at best, and the peckers were working on them. it was especially irritating right outside of my office.

But, as an early Christmas present to ourselves, we replaced all 31 windows in the house, and there is no more degrading wood trim for them to work on.

No doubt my suet and seed bill will go up as my heating bill goes down.

Must of been a relief when you got the windows,

Great bird pics. Most of yours seem to have more colour than what we get here. We feed the birds at the lake but the wood peckers still peck at our log cabin and the pine on the roof overhang. So it causes us some grief. It's always a fine balance of being out in the middle of nature but still having to deal with some of what nature does to our homes!

Am I only one that the woodpeckers don't peck my house:biggrin:.

I don't understand why they have to bother our place. We are surrounded by lovely trees that are full of all sorts of insects and rotten holes to peck at. And our logs are treated with a wood stain and the pine is treated, so not sure why they even like it??

The very first morning upon moving into our farm house a large woodpecker pecked on our bedroom window, then went to the other side of the house and pecked that window. In the 17 yrs it has never happened again. It was like "hello" to the neighborhood...our windows are vinyl sided so no reason for the pecks.

Kinda like me hanging around or being tempted by orchids I know I cannot grow...like a moth to a flame!
