Default need resizer, please

Years ago, someone here on the board offered a simple little program to resize our orchid photos for posting. I downloaded it then and it has worked well for the application ever since. I now have a new computer so I no longer have access to it on this pc. As I said, it was super simple.....all I had to do was right click my mouse and "resize photo" (maybe not those exact words) was in the list for me to choose if I needed to. This particular resizer offered 3 sizes, I always chose "small".

I wish I could recall who offered it to members, but that was years ago and now I'm old and forgetful.

I would appreciate your help,
Vicki

You can use this one online
Free Image Converter - Resize digital photos online for free from any computer any time. Like our online tool, try Free Image Converter and resize more pictures faster.

Or google Image Converters, there's tonns of them on the web. I personally prefer not to download stuff I'm not sure about and when using online tools, use the Norton Antivirus before I accept the file.

The one that was posted before by Sue was also in my link in my signature for tips on photos. However someone reported that the site it was hosted on contained a virus so I removed the link. It's a shame as it was a good little tool

Incidentally, many of the (free) image hosting websites allow you to upload the full size version of the photo, and then offer a range of sizes to view in. I generally use Picasa (it integrates nicely with blogger), but flickr now offers one terabyte of free storage.

For generally viewing images on your PC, IrfanView is pretty great, and beats the built in windows image browser which seems to be very slow and unreliable from Windows 7 onwards. It also supports various functions like resizing images, even batch conversions. IrfanView - Official Homepage - one of the most popular viewers worldwide It also has a significant number of very useful plugins.

Yes, that's the way I do it now. I used to use Picasa and now use Flickr mainly because it integrates more easily into this forum (you are right Picasa integrates nicely into blogger which is why I used to use that).

Hi Rosie,
Yes, that is a shame about the virused site, indeed. I was so hoping to locate the same resizer. I was pleased that it was a tiny little program and couldn't be simpler. I have no need for one any more elaborate or time consuming than that for what I do on the computer. That's what I'm all about..."simple".

I actually didn't expect replies to my thread since I didn't post it in the correct place, so I searched and found a resizer before I read all of your advice and comments...or else I would have waited before I downloaded one. I believe that I might have chosen the wrong one, though, because the smallest that it will shrink an image is 854 x 480 pixels. I downloaded it pretty late last night, so I was apparently too sleepy to remember that the max. board image size is 800 x 600 (which I was reminded of this morn. after reading your posting/resizing thread. By the way, thanks for posting that...you were very precise, detailed and informative).

If by chance the 854 x 480 pixels would be within the size limit, I will give it a shot. Otherwise, I'll uninstall it and download something different...poss. a resizer that one of you use or another super-simple one very similar to the one I had.

Thanks to you and others for your help,
Vicki

I downloaded this resizer but I can't figure out how it works. Can you tell me, please? I assumed I should simply right click on my mouse and the "resize image" option would be there in a list, but it's not. Do you use the same resizer? By the way, I use Norton and it tells me that this site is safe.

I would appreciate your help,
Vicki

That's ok, I uninstalled it because to resize an image using this program seems as if it would take more steps than I would like to take. I don't think it's exactly what I have in mind, but you're kind to offer.
Thanks for your help,
Vicki

I use IrfanView which is fairly simple. It offers quite a number of other photo editing capabilities. You can get it at filehippo.
