New lens! -EYE CANDY
Check out what I just got!!
It's a NIKKOR AF-S VR 70-200mm f/2.8G IF-ED It's so heavy, you can feel the legitimacy of it!
These photos were shot with a 50mm prime.

Great Purchase!
I'm wondering the same
I have a cannon 100-400 and It weighs just under 2 Kg! (I just learnt this as on checking-in my luggage a couple weeks ago on the way back from my holidays, I was asked to remove 2Kgs from a bag and put into another one where I was way underweight and guess what? I removed the lense and hey presto bag was 2 kg lighter!)
I basically only use mine in Africa on safari to photograph wild animals.

Oh, I so want a lens like that for my camera! I'd love to see some of your pics taken with it. But other than the cost issue, I need to prioritize. I do more macro work, and will need to take macro shots at work anyway (I work with insects). So I'm buying a macro lens next.

Sports mainly! I play volleyball and so does my sister and the gyms are typically very dark and we can't a flash so that's were the large aperture, that stays large all throughout the focal range, comes into play!

It's awesome!!! I wanted to get an 85 or 35 mm prime instead, but this one is more versatile, applicable, and we needed it more than the others. I'd love a good macro lens!!!
Here are some pics! Bear in mind that we got it last night, so this is our first time shooting with it (My mom shot these because I was playing.) So there is a slight curve to getting perfect pics with it. And the lighting in the gym, even with an aperture like f2.8, was terribly dark. Also volleyball photos are a lot harder to shoot than one would think.
I am number 5 on the black team!! We got second place today!!!

Great action shots!!! For a first time out with the lens those are pretty good. No kidding that it shoots well in low light, that gym doesn't look dark at all!

Great buy and nice pictures!
I have the same lens, well mine says 1:28.GII at the end of that long name, so maybe second generation(?).
It is also great for long distance shots, animals, birds etc.
