Might be in the wrong category, but had to share this picture with you. This character kept returning to the same few lillys which allowed for some great pictures. Thanks for looking.

Apparently they are quite common around this area, this year is the first time I can recall seeing them though. Could be I'm just paying more attention.

Bud, I looked it up and it is the state butterfly of Alabama, Delaware, Gerogia and south Carolina...and state insect of Virginia. Widespread throughout Eastern US and reaches into Southern Ontario. They must go somewhere during our winters though I'm unable to locate that info at present.

Beautiful!!!! Not a monarch though. They are a dark orange color.

Thank you Ronald. If I didn't know better I would have thought this guy was posing...he hung around in different positions for about 10 minutes or so, moving from lilly to lilly.
