Prime lens
Hi Giys,
forgive me for the question ,can I use a prime lens to photograh the flowers, of course not for macro photography.

Yes, there is no reason not to use a prime lens (macro or otherwise) - they're generally better than zoom lenses!

Just to add to what James said, they will give you excellent blurred backgrounds that do not distract from the flowers.

I take all my orchid photos with a prime lens. They usually give you a sharper picture than a zoom.

You may like to play around with extension rings or bellows (if your camera supports either) to effectively turn that lens into a macro lens.

I only use primes from infinity through life-size to 5:1 macro. Mainly for better optical quality of the lens, but also what everybody else has said.

Yup, another upvote for prime lenses. I've moved to shooting primarily primes for my wedding and portrait gigs.
