I like the outline idea. A simple stick figure of an orchid, if someone could make a nice elegant one that would look good on a plaque, then it most likely would look good anywhere.

there is some clip art that is used by newsletter editors that might be appropriate. go to the AOS web site, the forum and under resources for newsletter editors look at all of the posting since the start. I don't know if this link will work but, if not, do the above. There is a ghost orchid, cattleya, etc.
