This may sound like sacrilege but I would try to gentle coax that dorsal sepal up and retake the pics....but that's just me.
I think the pics are beautiful but if you are looking for "improvement" it would be more or less the bloom's shape and not you
Either way, a very lovely plant

Thanks eyebabe. It is the very first blooming so I'm hoping it will improve the next bloom cycle.

We shall see.

I'd say #3 and #6 look the sharpest.

I like 1 and 5.

#1 gives a very good front and side view of the flower and I like that you have a little of the plant in the background for context. It could be focused a little better.

#5 has good focus and I like the tilt of the flower. Its a nice close up.

In my opinion all of the photos are a little to light. I cant tell you if the colors are true but the photos apprear a little light too me. You can darken them untill you get an exact color match.I would also remove the skewer to get a little more natural look.

On #2 and #3 I find it a little distracting that the top flower is slightly cut out of the photo. I know its not the focus of the photo but I think you should either cut it out a little more (I would cut it in half as you did in 6) or include it all the way.

In #6 I would slide the composition over a little to the left for two reasons. 1, that is the way the flower is ¨looking¨, and 2, there is a bunch of blank black space to the right that you could cut out.

Just my opinion. Hope it helps! You may not be ¨pro,¨ or have a super nice camera but dont think you cant take great photos!

I've gotta agree a little with Louis, as I think 1 is by far the best, though maybe not as sharp as the others. However, given the coloring of #2 and #5, I think the 1st image isn't as color "true" as the rest of the batch. 2 and 5 make me think tha color is much deeper than it seems in picture 1. Also, I have one of these, and the color is a little darker compared to picture 1. But 1 is by far the best layout as you get both a forward and profile of the blooms.
Either way, gorgeous.

I like #5, Melissa, though I'd lower the exposure just a touch. Nice photos.

Thanks all. I did a white balance check before I took the photos and I also bracketed both with aperture and fstop. I got my eyes checked today because when I downloaded them last night, they looked fuzzy on my laptop.

Granted, my laptop is old and the pixels are burning, but methinks there is some sharpness missing.

I find that it is more difficult to focus with my glasses but my contacts are uncomfortable due to my dry eyes.
