I have found that errors where it takes ages then does nothing, are caused by the images being too big for Orchid Board.
There is a maxium size for images loaded to Orchid Board (it should say what that is on the upload page). I think the upload page indicates that it will re-size them but I have not found that works and it just does nothing instead. Re-size them yourself then try again and it should work.

RAW to jpg.
Photoshop, photoshop elements, Adobe Bridge, or Lightroom. You can also use the Adobe RAW processor, and they have a free program which converts RAW files to DNG files, but be warned, DNG's are even larger than RAW files, from there you can convert to Jpg.
I'm assuming you can also use the canon software which came with my camera, but I've never found their software to be as useful as other programs. And yes, you'll need to re-size all your images for the web - you don't want to put full res files up for a number of reasons, including upload time. I downsize everything to 72 dpi and around 9 inches on the longest size.

If your images are in RAW format then that may explain the problem as Orchid Board does not support the RAW format.
I'm afraid I've never worked with RAW format so I will have to leave that to others to advice how to convert them into jpg.
