Default A couple more examples of Focus Stacking

I've posted mostly photos of native orchids this summer, but here are a couple more examples of the technique described in previous threads called "focus stacking," used to gain greater depth of field in macro photography.

Dendrobium laevigatum on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Phalaenopsis Mini Mark 'Holm' on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Its a lovely little flower, isn't it? Not much into Phals except for some of the smaller species and violacea whose fragrance I love.

Hi Ross,
I'm not one for "cheating." I don't do much by way of manipulating photos and pretty much post my pictures as they come from the camera. I make an extra effort to compose a good picture before I take it and don't even do much cropping. This I don't see as cheating since it simply combines several photos for the purpose of better dof. Even if it's cheating, however, I like it.

Hi Ron,
I'm following these macro photo threads closely. I just posted a few shots here on OB under Connies Orchid Stars- They are all macro stacked. I love this technique! I'm curious to see what you think of them.

I find it rather odd the way macro stacking seems to make the image "flat" and lacking in the sense of 3 dimensions. Is it just my eye?

Are they the three images in your gallery, Connie?

I guess I don't see the flatness, Connie. They're great photos in my opinion.
