That is so awesome. I really want to get out an go native orchid spying around here. I know there are quite a few native species to CA, although not nearly as many as FL. But I don't have the first clue what they are or where to find them.

Most certainly it's part of the fun! And will be on my to-do list should I find myself visiting Florida.

You can't get much closer. If your truely interested in finding wild orchids in the Fakahatchee I would get the book Wild Orchids of Florida by Paul Martin Brown. And be prepared compass, gps, water, ect... and please take only pictures and leave only foot prints. I probably will be going in a couple weeks, if you would like to tag along let me know.

Wow. How generous to invite a newb on a hike with you! I'd like to talk to you more about this...

Ghost Orchids are extremely rare and bloom only once a year IF conditions are right and IF their only polinator, the Giant Sphinx Moth, is able to find the few remaining plants that exist on this earth.
No kidding. (Just found that on a site)
I think I understand the significance of Mikeurquia's signature. Looks like you both have seen them judging from your avatars. Very cool.

Not a problem, the fee will be 1 glass orchid. Just kidding. Best way would be by private message.
