I would like to add a remark about plant #3. The flowers are two inches but the plant is very small like a Neo. The sanderiana obviously increased the size of the flower.

OOPS, I'm sorry. I was so busy admiring the pics that I didn't even read the post. Just post something blue, and I forget everything else. Marilyn

Jerry,

Congrats to you on your new camera...and on your beautiful blooms!

I really love the Vanda sanderiana alba x Neofinetia falcata. I was going to inquire about the size of the blooms, but saw your adendum above. Do you remember where you got this guy? I have a space in my shade house for one. Thanks!

Jerry, congratulations on your new camera. I'd like to get one soon too, maybe for christmas. Ilove those pics and that blue star is amazing, beautiful hues of blue/violet.

Thanks David and Swamper. David the correct name of the plant is V. sanderiana var. alba 'Pauwela' x Neof. falcata 'White Flamingo' AM/AOS. The Neof. is Amani Island variety. When the flowers first open, the bottom one third of the two lateral petals are a pale lime green that turns to white. Probably comes from the V. sanderiana. I purchased the plant two years ago from Exotic Orchids of Maui. It bloomed in May 07 and it bloomed in April and Sept. of this year. The flowers last in perfection for more than a month and it has that heavenly morning perfume. And now the bad part. I just checked Maui Orchids website and could not find it listed. I also came up empty handed with a Google search.

I also admire your pictures for a novice with that camera. One suggestion, you could make the images that you put on this site larger. I've started to use the "Medium" setting on the Image Resizer from Microsoft that this board recommends. It is not too big for the upload and enlarges perfectly for the user.
Good luck and review all of Ross' picture taking threads to get the most from that very capable camera.
Nick
