Default Need opinion on a lens for my point and shoot

I have a point n shoot (Canon powershot A520) and I have seen that there exist extra lens for it. I like to do close up/macro shots of flowers, but using the camera as is means that I can't get as close as I'd like, especially with tiny flowers. Since I can't afford a better camera, I'm just looking to improve mine if at all possible.
This is what I found, but don't know the difference:
telephoto Canon lens
Canon macro lens

What do you think about them, would I just be wasting my money? And do I need some sort of adaptor to fit it to the camera? I read the technical details on it, but I know nothing about technical terms, and it's pretty much chinese to me! It will make closer shots, but will it improve or diminish the quality of the pics?

Thanks for your help, I'm completely lost.

I don't think you'd be wasting your money to get one of them, but have no opinion on which one. I have no actual personal experience. An adapter will simply allow your camera to focus closer than normal. How close, is determined by the X effect number. It won't be the same as dedicated macro/micro lenses most of us are using, but will allow much sharper closeups than you were able to do before. This will probably be good enough to meet your needs. You just attach the filter to the front of your camera lens and it works as normal - just closer. Hope this helps.
