Back in the pre-digital days (remember film?) one of my favorite lenses was a 100mm macro for my Pentax Spotmatic.

Yes, way back then I used a 100mm with a reversing ring. I was able to get 1.1:1 magnification with it. Made for some interesting images.

Yep, had a set of extension tubes and a bellows extension that I could use with either my 50 or 100mm macro. Now it's nice to have the instant gratification of digital (and no more wasted photos).

oh man, yeah kids these days just don’t know both how good they have it, but also what they are missing out on. shoot a whole role just to find one or maybe 2 semi decent pics, and that was after waiting a week for film to develop and paying for the pleasure! ahhhh, the good ol days.....

i also had a 100 mm with a couple rings, and always used polarizing filters for my flower stuff. man, those were fun days. a entire back back just for my camera and lenses! hahahahaha. i got my film camera as a head me down from my dad, but used to shoot a nikon f2. loved that camera

nice lepanthes ray! thanks for including it!

I never had a really good camera but I had a fairly decent one that I took on holiday to Tenerife about 35 years ago. On the last day of the holiday I went out on a boat, whale spotting. I had 2 rolls of 36 pics left. All day, no whales, but I slowly used up the film on dolphins, flying fish etc so quite happy. Just as we neared the harbour on our way back a whale surfaced right next to the boat and I had no shots left! I was really peeved.
Forgot to put the rolls in my hand luggage, they went through the suitcase scanner, took them to Boots chemist to have them developed - nada! Then I was glad I hadn't got a whale pic
I just love cameras on phones - they suit me down to the ground.

.
dude, i can imagine the disappointment. that learning curve with film was pretty steep, especially when u had no cashola. i was too young to be traveling much with undeveloped rolls, but for sure remember the disposable trend and protecting them on vacation! always got ours developed before we went home, haha!

oh how mad i would get when first learning to shoot film tho. i can’t tell you how many rolls i ruined because i either forget to rewind it , or somehow rewound it wrong, or thought i was shooting an entire roll only to actually remember to rewind it and realized it never caught the teeth on the spindle. oh my god, how frustrating photography was as a beginner. orchids is easy peasy compared to that
