A split at the top of the sheath developed ----- so just opening the top of the bonnet/hood so that we can all get a look within here.

The split at the top of the sheath was quite small toward the end of yesterday ----- there was no split at all yesterday morning.

The cell activity going on in flower spikes and flower buds for cattleya orchids is really remarkable.
I only just noticed yesterday ----- that looking from the other side of one bud, there is some pinky colour ripple of lip edges showing. I didn't see it before, as I was always looking at the buds from just one side.
I can share the pic in this post here - just to get a view of that other side of the bud!
