Unhappy Phalaenopsis lobbii, terminal spike

So, what I hoped I would never see on any plant I now have. My first Phalaenopsis lobbii, project plant from a long time ago has developed a terminal spike. From what I gather, its only savior now is to either pollinate the flowers by selfing, or pray for a keikie (I still can't spell that word ). I rather have a keiki, so, by when should I start worrying that my plant is bound for oblivion if I have not yet seen a kieki? Will it be too late once the leaves are turning brown?

I recieved this plant a while ago and it has bloomed many times for me, but never grown a new leaf. Is it something I did? THanks.

Tin are you sure it's a terminal spike? It kind of looks like it but then again with only 2 leaves on the plant it's kind of hard to tell. It doesn't really look like it is spiking right smack dab from the middle of the plant where a new leaf would be....(if it ever grows one ). If it is terminal just wait it out. It will hopefully send up a basal Keiki.

[RHi Tin,
I think you are going to pleasantly surprised.
Let it Grow, Let it Grow, Let it Grow.........

Meanwhile, Keiki-Pro should be something that is in everyones Orchid First Aid kit..........give it a try now for basal keikis.

Im sure its a terminal spike because the spike is coming out of the center of the crown from where I would expect a new leaf. At first when it started growing I felt relieved because I thought it was a new leaf, finally, but not so.
Where do you guys get your Keiki Pro form?

Hi all,

Here is a picture of that terminal spike with a flower on it. It wasn't very floriferous this time around, but I figure I better celebrate it this bloom while I still can One more bud left to bloom.

A terminal spike in Phals is a spike that emerges from the crown (center of growth). Basically it means that no new leaves will be growing on this particular growth stem. All I can hope for now is a kieki.
