Smile Mini Mark Holmes finally Blooming

Everyone, finally my Mini Mark Holmes has started blooming there are apprx. 4 maybe 5 buds .
Have a concern regarding the leaves which appear to be turning reddish and appear to be softening. There are roots growing and new leaf starting to show. It has been in the s/h medium since I recieved it. Is this normal or is it getting to much light. It sits on the bottom shelf of the orchidarium. I have removed other Phals due to water getting in the center. Some of the Phals have had very soft leaves since they were purchased but the new leaves are not soft. All are putting out roots and leaves. Check out the

Hi Sheridan,
That is really nice! Mine opened yesterday too!
I don't know what to tell you about your leaves as I don't grow in s/h but I'm sure someone can help.

The older leaves will age on your Phal. Try moving it to shader area if you feel it's getting to much light in orchidatrium and monitor now they do over a couple weeks. It might just be that their adjusting to their new environment since arriving in their new home. I grow my Phal. outside on shaded porch. Mini Holmes is glorious, by the way.

Hi morsecode

Go ahead and order it!! It doesn't take up much room. It's not like the big hybrid plants but a mature specimen is a sight to behold. I love the little orange freckles!

Beautiful flower Sheridan! Mine has a spike and buds but I think it still has awhile before it blooms. I can't wait! My leaves are purple too. I also grow under lights but I have it really far away from them. I had it closer originally but when the leaves turned purple I backed it up a lot. The leaves are still purple though. (Like 500fc max) I thought that either they were used to very little light before I got it or it just doesn't like a lot of light. Other than that I have no clue. And my leaves are pretty soft too. I'm growing it in a chc mix but when I repotted it had very few roots. I've been keeping a close eye on it.
