They were hoping he would help guard the sheep but he seems to not like them. He just goes where ever he wants to.

How sad. Llamas, as are alpacas, herd animals. A llama makes an excellent guardian, but must have at least one camelid companion. They just need to get at least one more camelid and it would likely solve the problem.
And yes, Dolly appears to be a popular call name for a llama.
