Yes, I can only imagine having 2 grumpy kitties in the same household. God help us! Toby is known for jumping up on us and acting like he wants to be pet...only to bite us and run away. Or, my husband will be in the recliner and Toby will sneak up under his foot, bite his toe, and then run away. Other times he can be very sweet and calm. He's unpredictable...basically mental. He also has weird outbursts in the middle of the night from time to time...where was wanders around the house screaming at the top of his lungs...as if he's hurt or something but he's fine. ?? He just wants attention! So, yea, we forgive his outbursts/bad behavior and just ignore it most of the time because he did come from an exceptionally abusive situation so we're think he has PTSD. Or maybe it's some form of kitty tourettes.

Thankfully our Marley is the sweetest of sweet kitties...her unbelievable good nature balances the bad vibes Toby sometimes sends out.

Same here. Being raised an orphan kitten, did Dolly no good. She was just sitting on my lap, calm as could be, happy and warm. I was thinking what would have happened if we hadn't rescued her? We got her, at the vets suggestion, as a companion for our two older cats. She was a pill from the beginning...so, that didn't work out. They both passed at 20, from kidney problems and we got Nathan( in tinsel).

He was a filthy mess and we rescued him from his rescuers. He was so sick that the vet gave us free interferon to boost his immune system. They said he was the patient of the week for awhile. A thousand dollars and 5 meds later he was on the mend and wormed his way into our hearts. We recently found out his rescuers were arrested for animal hoarding and the filthiest conditions! Ugh.

Then a good friend was on his way to seminary on the west coast. He wanted to leave Jack (in the box) with us, I really couldn't say no. He is now 12 or 13 and has kidney problems ( again). We know the drill by now and won't prop him up. When his quality of life declines too much, the decision will be easier than before. He's on an appetite stimulant now, due to his weight loss, perpetually dehydrated, and mostly unenthusiastic about life.

IF we ever adopt again, it will be a senior whose lost their people. That way we can go out together. Lol.

People who rescue animals are the best. Those are some lucky kitties to have had you come into their lives.

I hate seeing those animal hoarder situations! I know the people don't mean to hurt the animals but it's tragic...every single time. IMO, the penalties for animal abuse should be MUCH harsher.

The kidney issues are always tricky and we've done our share of dealing with them too. One of our cats required subcutaneous fluids 3-5x/week. Talk about a PITA! Thankfully our vet was also our neighbor at the time and she would come down and help me do it until I got real comfortable w/giving him the fluids. I did finally get pretty good at it but still...there were times when Oreo decided he was having none of it.

The same here. But there was no quality of life for ours. She would walk down the hall to sit on my lap when I had quiet time, go back to the bed room and lay on her heating pad. When she got hot she'd switch sides. Couldn't eat even baby food or treats...that's no life. One night she was up all night vomiting. I made Doug take her to the vet, I couldn't bear to do it again.
