Yes they are. I love the colors too. I just got 2 elephant ear bulbs. They can go bhind the pond to kind of hide the fence. Some caladiums in front of the "pond" would be nice. I am wondering whether to go with mini hostas. I like "curly fries."
The reason is that I always thin of perennials as being "cost effective" garden flowers. You buy ahand full of Iris bulbs, you have a ton of them in a few years. Same goes with the lilies and the hostas. In the long run you end up with more plants.
Annuals, however are gone, and can never be used again. Sure, they are a bit cheaper, but how cheap are you if you have to buy new plants every year?
I guess it is just a "thrift" thing with me.
