The sign at the vet
'Dogs have a veterinarian'
'Cats have Staff'
Im going to the shelter tomorrow as they have Willys twin. Hes been there since july last year and has been fixed. We going to see whats wrong and why hes still locked up. I owe one more kitty a life in my home. I figure since Willy is so mean he might have a hard time beating himself up. The shelter is kind of high on the adoptions at 100 bucks for a cat, but they are all fixed with shots. That's a 100 bucks at the SNAP clinic easy. Ya think 100 bucks is too much but the idea is if you dont have the 100 now how you going to afford to feed and care for it in the long run? Then they end up back at the shelter or left somewhere.
And dolly thats why you a hun

Ya, I get tired of hearing how much a shelter charges for the pets. They have allot of over head. My last old dog I got was only going to be 50 bucks as the older ones are less but I gave them a 100. Did you ever get the feral cats fixed?

I've never gotten a shelter cat that didn't cost me $1000.00 before they came home. The adoption fee was cheap but after that...

I feel that one. The Turtle didn't cost me anything as she had just came into the shelter the day I took her home. I had been donating time to them for about 13 years by then so they just let me take her home. Well with all her allergies she is now called my free 5000 dollar dog.
I told the vet teck that I really needed to add up what I had really spent on all my vet bills and she said oh you don't want to do that. I haven't, it would make me cry.

My sister is spending wildly on a rescue mutt with skin allergies. I feel for ya. Our animals love us somehow, I know they do even if they bite chew and hiss at us.
Ah The female feral was spayed and had a wound stitched up on her side where I think she was shot with an arrow at some time. She stayed around for a few days in the garage and when I opened it up she was gone havent seen her since
The male is still around and fixed but he doesnt come close to me anymore after his experience being trapped. He was not happy. He comes to eat about midnite in the dark and then hes out of there.
I had another kitty that got trapped and he was in such bad shape I had to give him up to the SPCA and WHY I owe another cat a life in my home. I wish I had known all he had was ringworm and parasites in his tummy. Its easy to cure with OTC meds from the pet store. I know now what was wrong with him.
Willy hasnt got any friends and he just meows all day around the yard. He did catch a mockinbird that had been strafing him. All I found was the feathers .
I went to the shelter and I really need to think about all this some....It cost a lot of money to feed and keep healthy dogs and cats. If you take them its not an option. Its a ruff day going to the shelter and seeing how the animals become numbers lined up all in a row knocked out ready for surgery.

I really hope this original thread was about pets.😂 Mr Jackson went to the vet last month. To be fair, he is a senior at 11. The vet had been sending letters Tha he needed a tooth extracted, he might has reabsorbtion issues etc. So, he went in for his Senior panels and a tooth descaling. $632.00. We have been with this for 30 years, since he opened his practice which has become the premier practice in the area...but, remember, we have two more cats. Everyone needs a check up once a year and they all eat high quality grain free food ( I highly recommend Chewy.com), get flea and tick protection etc. You are right to count the cost of ownership, and I commend you for being so responsible!
It turns out that Jack didn't have cavities, nor did he have reabsorbtion issues. We went back to brushing their teeth, which is a struggle for everyone except Nathan, who would brush his own if he had thumbs.

I have done so much research on the Turtles allergies and have tried so many different things. Three out of my four dogs are now raw fed. Meat, bones, organs. Oh and of course horse cake and bird seed. I did even stop feeding the birds trying to get her ears to clear up. They didn't so I gave up and feed them again. And the dogs.
RJ at least they won't be having any babies.

A trainer told me that grape seed oil is great for ear allergies, fungus etc. It worked for Jack. He is allergic to grain and gets ear problems. I just put it in a q-tip and applied it in his ears.

I haven't tried that yet. I have olive oil with lavender essential and tee tree oil in it. Hadn't heard that grape seed oil was good for it. I have also used coconut oil, it's suppose to be anti fungal. I have an article that gives several different home made ear treatments that I am going to mix up as I am tired of paying for it at the Vets.
At this point I am just trying to keep her comfortable as she is getting old and she has been through so many vet visits the poor thing.
