I love bettas. I have a small tank with 3 females and one killie now, another female in a second community tank. Down the line I plan to get a pair of unimaculata. Before I think about it, I have to get a bigger tank for the fish already have though.
I like the wild bettas, and would like to breed some. They are never as colorful as the long finned splendins, but I like the fact that you can have an aquarium full of bettas, and they don't fight. Just like the females.
Optimist, yes females get along better unlike males which are very aggressive but the males are more appealing than of the females . The species I must say are prettier because of their wild appearance, at least this is what I think
If you saw my last post, I got a male betta. I have been putting it off because I can have only one tank for a male, so I do not want a bunch of them. This one is a silver and red (or magenta) rosetail I named "Sterling." I like "peacock" the best. I really like the "cellophane" bettas. Son muy interesantes. My females are all in a 75 gallon tank now with a lot of other small fish, loaches especially. Loaches go really well with female betas. The Killie fish was re-homed because he ate 8 out my 12 endlers guppies.
