Hi Chris, welcome to the club... I also have two orchids eating cats... Ben and Mina, the orchids eaters... my solution is to avoid grass-like-leaved plants and concentrate more in hard leaved orchids. I also had the problem with puking up everywhere after eating grass. I found a malt based cream at the pet store, which they love. It's natural and help them diggest the hair-balls, and then they do not have that urge need to eat the plants (not 100% effective, but helped a lot! ) and other hand, brushing the cats every second day, takes most of the free hairs, and reduce then the hair ball formaton in their stomach. This also helps to keep them away from the plants

Hello Ramon,

We already have the cats on hairball formula, and neither have had a problem with hairballs in years.
Actually, only he pukes, and he only pukes up plants that he's eaten.
He is not particular about the type of plant either.
In the last year he has eaten ficus, serissas, bromelaids, orchids, roses, daisies, violets, ferns, babys tears, and any other flowers that happen to be left on the table or counter. He also chews on avacado's if they're left out.

I really think it's an addiction.
If I put a bouquet of flowers on the table, he will smell them. He'll walk across the room to them as if he's in a trance , and the first chance he gets (when we're not looking ) he will be on the table eating the flowers. He will do it again and again until we remove the flowers.
He's addicted!! He really needs Plant Eaters Anonymous, or maybe feline Hypno-therapy, or something.

Thanks for the input.

Chris

By the way, my wife's family is from Basel. Are you from Basel Stadt or Basel Land?

Grüezi Chris!

he-he, it sounds like you were speaking about my cat (Ben)

Actually, I am from Venezuela and am living in Basel Stadt since 1,5 years and I love it. Before that I've been living in Germany and Spain for a couple of years.
