Read about Ragdoll cats. Not growing around pets or owning any, it was interesting read. Seems like it would be purrfect for us. Only thing is the article said they (60%)generally live about 10 years.

Honestly, they are fantastic and intuitive animals. If you are considering one and end up getting one, you won't regret it. And if you decide to...you'll have to post pictures because Ragdoll kittens are adorable!
There's never a guarantee when it comes to pets life span, so my fingers are crossed that Finn, as we affectionately call him, will be around for at least another 12 years.

Do they leave the orchids alone? My cat loves to knock them over.

very cute kitties! my BIL's family just let go of their ragdoll - he was 20 years old. But the most laid back guy there was. we have 3 furries, the newest is a ginger fluff ball with never ending energy it seems.

My cats are pretty good about not bothering the orchids. The only issue I ever had was when a brought home a new Cattleya, they chewed the leaves. Someone on this board had suggested maybe it was due to what the vendor sprayed on the plant and I am in agreement because now that it's been in my collection for over a year they no longer go after it. And they sometimes will swat at my vanda's roots if they look tempting enough.

Thank you! Sorry to hear about your BIL's family's loss. The cat in your avatar is beautiful. I get a kick out of that watching that never ending energy.

My cats
If you are undecided about getting a cat...please consider going to the local ASPCA or animal shelter and see if you can adopt a cat or dog. There are so many wonderful inmates looking for good homes.
