Default Bettas

Bettas are such beautiful fish. I have one as you can see in the picture. I was hoping others would share theirs.
Here is something I didn't know. Male bettas can be put with other fish. NOT male bettas, but other fish. It's not wise though to put a male and female betta with other fish, because if they decide to mate, other tankmates might get hurt. Their mating is very...active. They usually swim all over the tank when they are courting.
And here is mine betta.

i have a male and female beta in the same tank, with a plastic devider between them.
the male is showing off all day at her. but the female totally ignores him.
by the way> they are quite easy to breed

IF the female is not ready to breed, she may turn on the male and just about kill him. This happened to a pair i tried to breed once. Put them together, and woke the next morning to find that she had attacked him all night, shredding his fins.

Dont have any as of now though.

Puddin, your betta is beautiful! I love the ones with the see thru fins! This is the first time in many years that I am without a betta. I usually kept at least 3 at all times in different vases. I want one again after seeing yours but I already have enough pets (or so I keep telling myself! )

Gin, thanks for sharing your pic of Bubba! He's so pretty (or handsome i guess I should say!). Such a vibrant red! How old is he now? He has a young look to him still. I bet he was so cute and tiny at 10 weeks old!

Lovely red betta! I saw some at the pet store today. OH my WORD, they were beautiful! I wanted to take like 5 of them home, but I have no more room!

nice pics btw ^^

hmmm well usually by the time they are worth selling at the pet stores, they are usually almost a year old, because under that age, they are not mature enough to be economically sold (colours are usually not that vibrant). only way to get a 10 week old is from a breeder

i got Pinky last September. that makes him about 2 years and 3 mths old, which is technically passed his half way mark since betta's lifespan are about 3.5-4 years old.

i cant seem to find the pic of him... hmm... but he's a crowntail whose lovely spikes are all getting worn down due to his age. i'll post a pic when i get the chance

I LOVE crowntails! They didn't have any at the pet store at the time I bought mine. Not that I mind. I really enjoy the betta that I have.
