My Fids (Feathered kids)

Here are three out of the four feathered folk that share our lives with us, BB (our Cockatiel lady) isn't very photogenic and hates the camera so I will have to try and get a better one of her at a later date, but for now here are the ones that ... rule the roost, as it were, lol.

Ruby, our 13 or so year old Congo African Grey
(she has ... um, issues)


My "other wife" Gracie (hates my real wife) is a 14 or so year old Timneh African Grey


... and last but not least, the noisiest and orneriest of them all, Cleo our 5 or so year old Senegal
... "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of Men? Cleo nows!"


So there you have them, the ones that (depending on the day) fill my life with happiness and joy or drive me to the brink of insanity.

Aww, not "too bad" about the first one, lol, she is who she is and it takes all kinds to make the world go round, and she just happens to be a nudist at heart and wants to let it all hang out, lol.
Ruby came to us looking like a rotisserie chicken and we know little to nothing about her past history other than she was the bottom of the totem pole of a large uncared for flock of nearly fifteen larger birds in one household when we were able to pull her out of that situation.
She has since fully re-feathered and taken them off again, twice over the years we have had her.
You have to realize that they have the intelligence level of a five year old child, the emotional stability of a three year old and posses the capability of cognitive speech, and with all that come ... issues.
It's up to "us" the owners to figure out what those are and ... fix 'em.
We love her to death regardless and will do so for many more years to come.
I better stop now, I could go one for ... well, for ever when it comes to Parrots.

They are all beautiful , Birds are my other addiction love all of them .
My Simon my Alexanderine feather picks in the fall he was given to me by a couple that had him for 10 years , don't know how they could do that . Not long ago I found a girl friend for him named her Alice . I also have Cockatiels, Canaries and a pair of Parakeets . Thanks for showing your babies Gin

Very nice. I have a Greenwing macaw, Redfronted macaw, Bluethroated macaw and a very ornery Soloman Island Eclectus. All are girls. My Eclectus has started to pluck due to always having rageing hormones. Lays an egg about every couple of weeks. You gotta love em anyway.

I had some feather plucking problems with my Gray also. He would pick his flight feathers and tail feathers. The solution evolved over time, but basically I had to talk to him about it, telling him that I wanted to see his pretty tail feathers and if he stopped picking his wing feathers he would be able to fly. He figured it out pretty quick and hasn't picked his feathers since. That was when he was about a year old and he's now 15 years old.

It's amazing how reasoning and flattery works with these very intelligent animals. They also like attention and physical interaction in addition to mental stimulation.

Ruby sure has a look of her own!! Someday her issues may be resolved and then she'll look like any other Grey!

When I saw the first picture I laughed till I had tears. It's as if he's saying "What do you think your looking at" Some people bite there finger nails, Ruby pull feathers? Iam sure they know they are well loved!!!
