Gorgeous Persians and adorable pics! I'm agreeing that they are probably waiting for an opportunity for a taste test. My Birman boy put a toothmark on every orchid I brought home until I moved them out of his reach, little rascal.

Your cat must have been an orchid grower in its past life. Being a cat must be its reward, now it can sit and stare at the the orchids all day and then sleep and eat, and back to staring.

Love the pictures. Kitty just looks curious; the orchids look as if no damage has been done YET

Some cats don't bother with them and others MUST have them. Hope yours is in the first category.

So sorry everyone for not responding sooner. I didn't realize that I had so many responses after the initial few (the email notifications didn't come through).

Thank you everyone for your input, I loved reading them! As per request, here is a picture of the black Persian. As you can see, he's not as Buddhist-like as my white one. Here he looks like he got caught in the act of planning dinner.

So cute. My kitty always left one tooth mark on the leaf of every new orchid. Now they are out of his reach, little rascal. Besides, he has his own kitty grass to munch.

I've started growing pots of grain seedlings/small plants from seed from the organic section of the grocery store. Since I have the lights and everything to do so, it's much cheaper than buying it pre-grown. You just need some regular potting soil. In just a week or two you have a pot of grass that your indoor cat can enjoy instead of eating your orchids.

They like popcorn, wheat, rye, barley, pretty much everything. I want to try rice sometime but that is hard because they have to be underwater for a certain amount of time and is a lot more trouble to grow.

love your kitties!

I cant imagine life without kitties around....or orchids, lol....my mothers cat 'booger' loved to go in the greenhouse with me, he would sneak in, as he wasn't normally allowed in....because he would jump on the benches and rub against the pots, knocking everything over! a bull in a china shop! booger weighs between 18-20 pounds! he delighted in charging thru the pots, knocking them over and watching me run to catch them, lol....he would also climb up the outside of the greenhouse on the shadecloth to sit on the very top, surveying his kingdom!
