Such beautiful ducks! They really did look like part of the family. I'm sure you have so many fond memories of them! I'm sorry to hear about the fox, what a terrible thing to have happen.

It sounds like more than one fox to take a family of ducks in short order....

Well, we hadn't been to the country house in 2-3 weeks since I was in the Netherlands, my sister was in Spain and my mom didn't feel like going there alone, so the fox(s) probably had a feast while we were gone. The ducks can stay that long alone, especially in spring-summer when the yard provides most of their food.

Aww those poor sweet things. I'm so sorry you lost them
Such sweet photos

I understand completely about the timing thing. I lost my dog of 15 years may, he died of cancer.
I try to talk about him but I can't do it for more then 10 seconds. I guess some folks just need more time, I must be one of them.

So sorry about your dog Gloria. Losing pets is always tough. I still miss the ducks like crazy, but I've gotten to the point where bringing back memories and looking at pictures actually makes me smile. It still hurts, but I feel so lucky to have had them in the first place. It was just a big shock: One day they are there, the next they are gone. I can still remember that day I called my mom and she told me they were all gone...

To make matters worse, we had been raising an orphaned mallard duckling. We got her when she was only a few days old and raised her with lots of love. We kept her on our balcony in the city. One night in June, when she was almost 2 months old, there was a big storm, and it must have freaked her out and she probably got enough lift with the wind to get over the railing. We are on the 7th floor.... We never saw her again.
Then 2 weeks later one of our pet canaries died of epileptic seizure. Then our hamster died in September.
Talk about bad luck!! I accumulate it!!
