My Fall Regulars are Back Male
Default My Fall Regulars are Back

I'm not sure if you could call them pets, but they have been regular guests each fall and winter for about five years now. They come in through the basement cat door, make it up the stairs, and help themselves to the cat food. I have never seen them misbehave, other than playing with my slippers, or chewing on the corners of my comforter, nothing worse than my cats have done. Sometimes their 3AM visits can be annoying, but I get over it. Besides, they are awfully cute.

My grandmother raised a racoon from a baby when its mother was hit by a car... It made the nicest pet, and would sit on her head and try to drink from her coffee cup.

I know for many people, they can be quite a nuisance... but I agree, they are very cute & intelligent creatures.

This is a wonderful photo - thanks for sharing it with us!

I have never heard of racoons coming into a house, so politely. . .well, except for that bit about chewing on your comforter and most likely staring at you while you were sleeping. . .or the homeowners responding so calmly & generously.

Just goes to show, people just needs to make a little room. . .for everybody else to live.

Oh, yes they're very cute and super smart in my experience too. . .just little animals trying to get along in the world.

*Big HUG to you for your kindness to the furry faces in your neighborhood*

Edited to add: but I do think you should lock your petdoor at night. lol

A good friend of mine has a pet raccoon right now. He is the cutest little thing!
I'm not sure I'd be happy about them coming into the house but it must be like their favorite autumn vacation spot

They're cute. Are you able to pet them? We have a family of raccoons that have become regular visitors since this summer. They came for the cat food in the porch but also ate some muscadines from our arbor.

Awww they are so cute. Really beautiful creatures. Just make sure there's plenty of cat food out!!! I had 5 come in through my cat door a few years ago. They came every night and once one of them checked the trash can. He only took a milk jug and didn't make a mess.

But when he got to the foyer, he became mesmerized by the swinging pendulum on the grandfather clock. He sat on his haunches with the milk jug in his hands and swayed back and forth...back and forth in time with that pendulum.

I was upstairs on the balcony and thought I'd fall off laughing! My camera was downstairs though so no pictures.

Your a good person with a kind heart. Thanks for sharing your friends.

You have cute visitors there, but a warning--we had a skunk come in our house! It was during our house renovation and he was coming in and out at night through our dryer vent and getting into the kitchen garbage. Unfortunately, the dog got sprayed, etc. Just be careful!!

Debs, watching him watch the clock must've been hilarious!

Now you know...one camera for upstairs and one for downstairs
