Bet I Can Make You Guys Jealous!
Got a 6 week old kitten on Tuesday. Mom was feral, babies were living next to someone's garage. She's warmed up to me already, now I just have to get Bennie, my corgi mix dog, to stop barking and whining and fussing constantly for her.
She's been living in the bathroom because I wanted her to gradually get adjusted. Might be adopting a second one to keep her company.

It's a good thing I didn't take you up on that bet! I am sooooooooooo jealous! Instant love. What a beauty. Long haired Calicos and Persians are my favorite (have one of each!) A big fat CONGRATULATIONS, she's everything wonderful. Have you picked out a name for her?
Enjoy and wishing you all the best.

Yep, my mom named her Trixie. She hasn't even seen her in person yet, but I agreed the name was quite fitting.
Goal for the weekend is to gradually work her out of the bathroom and out exploring. Bathroom door has been open partially for her since Wednesday, with a baby gate up so that she can get out, but the dogs can't get in. So far all she wants to do is run up to the gate and tease Bennie, then go back to playing.

Love those wacky calicos! They have a very different temperament from other cats. More "cattitude".
Here's a picture of Scout at about 1 year. She's not afraid of anything, and had the dog browbeaten in no time.
Trixie is very cute. Love the harlequin face. I had a calico years ago with markings just like that.

Is Scout in the dryer? LOL! Tux is very cute too. I really want to get a second, but I'm a bit torn about it. I'm in a 1 bedroom condo with 2 dogs, the kitten, a baby iguana, a bearded dragon and water frogs. Plus, all the orchids. To me, it doesn't look super packed or cramped, but my mom got on my case tonight about getting a 2nd one and how it might upset Bennie and Tiny, etc. My thinking is that the 2nd one is going to keep Trixie company and be around her same age (most likely going to adopt an 8 week old solid dark grey one...I have always wanted that color and found someone who found a family of them in her backyard) and I'm thinking that might keep her occupied and not bothering the dogs. I really need to figure out how to calm Bennie down. He is obsessed with trying to get in there to Trixie, barking and whining almost nonstop. I'm afraid the neighbors are going to start complaining soon. If I actually let him near her, he corners her and just barks and whines in her face. It's so obnoxious. I don't want her to have to stay in the bathroom forever, but because he's always there waiting, even with the baby gate up, she won't try to really venture out. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!
