My Watch Dogs
Too cute to not grab a pic of them! The younger male, Thai, is on the left. He's a bundle of energy that's around 5 years old. On the right is Lily, who is far more mature at 8 years. They are both miniature American Eskimo's, weighing 12 and 15 pounds respectively, although they look like they weigh closer to 20 because of all the fur!

Here's their faces showing their personality in full swing. Thai is on the left again.

What beautiful dogs! Did you train them to do tricks? I have a nine-year old standard size Eskie and she is just wonderful

Thank you both!
We have trained Lily to do quite a few things, but she's a bit hard headed at first, lol... You really have to make it fun for her or she's just interested.
Thai is another story all together. We're working on getting him over his fear of everything. Poor boy came from a hoarding situation and has had no real human contact. But he's finally picking up on a few simple things now that he's calmer and starting to relax in his environments.

I didn't know mini Eskimos were so small. How did you come up with the name, Thai?
They're beautiful. Thank you for taking in a rescue dog!

Both are rescues, but Thai came from a much darker place than Lily.
My old (deceased) mini American Eskie I named Ajia, which is an old hippie name pronounced "Asia" but reminds me of my ancestry. We named both Lily and Thai after that thought process. Of course, you Should hear people try to pronounce it, lol... No one seems to get it's like Thai food, pronounced exactly the same but after a country. They always say Th-a-e. LOL...

Are there any good places to get Eskies? Ours was a rescue from a puppy mill and couldn't even walk when we got her. She was scared of everything. We socialized her to people by passing out dog food pieces at parks and playgrounds so that she would learn to love everyone. Now, she always thinks everyone will feed her.

LOL!!! That's an awesome idea!!!! We'll have to do that as well.
Thai could walk, but tripped over his own feet. Lily loved it, and then he learned how to run and built up his muscles. Now she hates it because she can't get away, lol...!!!!
We have an Eskie Rescue Society in St. lLouis. I would google American Eskimo Rescue Society and see what pops up in the result that may be near you. You might also reach out to shelters and ask if any are nearby, or in a nearby state.
