I also need some controls... so if you have a cat that doesn't eat with their paws and you like doing surveys you can answer. Just please make clear that your cat doesn't, and leave out any questions that don't apply.
I have a cat that drinks water with her paws, preferably out of the watering can ( I can't leave any treated water around ! ). I checked - its not a CAT- err-gory on your survey....
Whoops, should have included that! (Teddy does that too). If you like you can still answer, and just add those details in the comments, and answer like it does say drinking too! Of course I'll probably be able to spot it's you LOL
Completed the survey! My cat uses the scoop method. She will also drink with her paw if there is a watering can or something else she can't reach with her tongue.
I did the Survey. Katie cat eats and drinks with her paw. She'll also carry a piece of dry food to the bathroom sink drop it in the sink and try to catch it before it goes down the drain.
We had an Abyssinian once that loved mushrooms. If you were cutting them up for a meal, he would jump on the counter and "spear" one with a claw, as if it were a toothpick.
Survey still open! In fact if there's anyone out there who only has cats that don't paw eat, but would like to answer, I could do with some more controls... just leave out questions 2 and 5.
Not crunched any numbers yet of course. But it is looking like something is really standing out that's very interesting... can't say yet of course!
Meanwhile, not many people are elaborating on the 'things that make them do it more' question. Is everyone's cat more likely to do it with lumpy wet food? Do your cats do it more or less when other cats are around? Discuss... LOL
My cat refuses to eat wet food so I don't know what she would do with that. She's an only cat but I also have 2 ferrets. Usually she does it during her "alone time". I get the impression she finds it entertaining to paw eat.
