It works but only as long as I am home. Unfortunately my little darlings have figured out that as long as there's no mommy around they won't get wet or get any angry glares.
Pelle gave bullying the mini Phals a try a couple of days ago (he was more after the tiny trays they are placed on than the Phals themselves, but the result wasn't desirable whatever his aim may have been) which led to one of them testing its leaves in the air, It didn't fly well, but no harm was done. After I put it back on the windowsill, Pelle immediately ran back to start bullying it again. A stern "Pelle" combined with a glare and hands-on-hips pose stopped him short though and he hasn't repeated the offense since.
He is a good boy.

Stupid cat
I've tried to get a picture or two of Prillan today since she has discovered the joy of the cardboard box my microwave oven came in. The nifty thing she discovered with it is that it closes after she has crawled into it, and after that the fun begins. She has moved the box around in the hall the entire day due to her playing in it (when she and Pelle have not been too occupied with chasing each other around the flat, of course). I've tried to sneak out into the hallway, armed with my camera, but as soon she notices my presence, she crawls out of the box and wants to cuddle...
I'll see if I'll manage to take some pictures of her and her "box of play" (instead of "box of shame") tomorrow instead.

How beautiful! Cats are such characters!
My daughter's cat is living with us while she's trying to figure out her next life step (which means indefinitely) and I'm trying to convince Sarah, my Siberian Husky, that the cat, Kazy, really isn't the coolest dog toy evah! Of course this dog toy fights back. Sarah would never mean to hurt Kazy but I take no chances.
So if typos slip into your posts, Mutant, we can assume it was the cats' fault?

There names are Priscilla and Pirelli, but I call them Prillan and Pelle.
They're my darlings and if I had to choose between them and my orchids, the flowers would have to go.
Prillan is laying in my lap as I'm writing this message.
They're always involved in everything that happens in my flat. When I check the Phals for spikes P&P are also looking (probably in case I miss something). When I try to take photos of the flowers, P&P cuddle with said flowers and when I repot, they assist me as only they can.
They're unusually nice to my Phals (no eating, playing with or knocking over) and mostly seem to view them as obstacles on their (the cats') windowsills.

Oh I love your cats. That 3rd pic is so cute. I love a lap cat unfortunately mine is not one! He only likes to lay beside me when it is cold.

i have much enjoyed this thread, and cant help but post my babies, nina on the bed, past at age 17 due to shock over the addition of boooger who was too playful with her and gave her a nervous breakdown.....booger was a baby and didnt know not to bother old nina....anyway booger grew up to be an 18 lb tom cat, who follows my mother and i around the yard, and sleeps on moms bed....he is constantly lording it over fuzzy who is the outside brother cat.,,,no pics of fuzzy who is a huge part maine coon cat...,,maybe thats why booger is so large? cats are such a comfort an a blessing to all that hold them dear.....i love my kitties! well i couldnt find my pic of nina, but you get the idea of boogers size from the photo i reckon....he is not allowed in the greenhouse as he leaps to the benches and knocks over every plant he can......

They are purrrfectly beautiful. We have had standard Siamese (apple heads) over the years and were amazed by their beauty and intelligence. More recently we were owned (yes!) by two wonderful Balinese, a lilac like your Siamese and a seal point, none of which ever bothered our orchids. Currently our home is ruled by a Birman Lynx Seal Point who thinks the orchids belong to him and has to put his mark - one tooth bite - on one leaf of every cattleya. Go figure cats.

Wow, I haven't been here in almost two years...
My kitties are still around, and a bit grumpy since my chid collection has grown so much that it has taken over all the windowsills in the flat.
They're still my babies though and they seem to come up with new interesting schemes to "get mommy's attention".
Prillan has started harassing me every time I water the chids. She starts meowing at me and runs off to get her stuffed toy mouse, so that we can play fetch. This she does when I'm either in the shower (!) or taking care of the chids... Oh, and I usually find this stuffed toy mouse on my chair, whenever I get home from school. I think it's her way to show that she misses me.
Pelle always joins me on my inspection rounds, usually ending up trampling among the chids, and/or clinging to my legs. Since I'm terrible at kitty discipline, I always pick him up and kiss him when he does this. Strangely enough, it hasn't led to him stopping this behaviour.
