So how do you get rid of protazoans?

What is and how do you get rid of dinoflagellates?

Copper medication kills just about everything. You'll have to reboot the bacteria in your gravel bed though. You would also have to find the source for the unwanted pests too, otherwise you'll just reintroduce them as well.

Don't know if anyone mentioned this before or not, but I have noticed that bettas are prone to disease that looks like a fungal growth around their body. Eventually makes them swim funny and die. My cure was to add a dash of salt per gallon of water.

What kind of salt did you use? Aquarium salt or table salt?

Exactally how much per gallon? Or is it just 10 pinches of salt for 10 gallons?

pretty much, i never really measured it out. If you start out in small amounts fish can get accustomed to a lot, but not enough to make the water brackish. I would start out with a pinch per gallon. I actually used a pinch for a small bowl which is a lot less than a gallon.

After trial and error I was successful keeping betas in mixture 1/4 teaspoon of salt per gallon. After I started adding salt I never head problems with parasites and infections. However i also changed 50% of water weekly and only used silk plants making sure water stays clean.
