My goldfish

This is a photo from my 2 goldfish. The biggest one that is swimming in the front is already 6 years old. When I did buy them they had much more color. The big one was orange with white and the other one was yellow.
After a while they completely lost color. Now someone did tell me I should give them fishfood with carrots. The caroteen in the carrots will give them back their color. I don't know if it has to do with the food, but the little one is already getting more yellow again. They are really tame. When I clean the fishtank they keep sucking on my fingers. That really tickles.

yea goldfish will do that, so fun. I had one just like this for 7 years, breeder told me it died due to me keeping it in a 10 gallon tank where conditions change faster and more easily (ammonia, heat, oxygen and CO2 levels). Good luck with yours! They get bigger with more space.

Cute fish! I have five in a half-whiskey barrel pond that were tiny babies when I took down my large ornamental pond two years ago and gave all the larger fish, lilies and lotus away. I really enjoy my goldfish. Just a note, if you bought your fish when they were very young, their color can change in the early years.
Now I have to go visit mine!

Yes I did buy these when they where still tiny. So they grew quite a lot. I change the water every week, and they still do fine. They are getting there color back already a little.

That is actually a myth, Caesar. No more true than saying if you keep a great dane in small closet that it will stay small.

they will get stunted if kept in a tiny tank though... reducing their life span

Arguable whether that is stunting their growth or killing them young before they can achieve full growth.

It sure is a funny feeling. They also keep rubbing agains your hand. Just to get attention. When you feed them they will try to get it out of your hand as fast as possible.
