Hi guys, i thought it was about time to show off my newest water-puppy Say hello to Leroy the giant halfmoon plakat betta

he lives in a ten gallon planted tank, that will soon be heavily planted. im just waiting for the plants to get here. as for tankmates, he will have 3 otos and a shoal of 6 neon tetras.

the lights are 2 13W cfls in a stock hood. there is no injected CO2

an older shot of the tank. its a bit changed, but the basic concept is still the same

Leroy

Gorgeous colour fish.

I'm afriad I'm not really into keeping fish. My in-laws had some tropical fish when I lived with them, but that's about it.

However I do admire the wonderful colours on some of these. I like looking arround the ones in the local garden center which has a massive aquatic section.

I used to keep fish but not any more. I now wish I had my fish tanks back to put orchids in. I have always wanted a reef tank though.

ive never ventured into reef. i dont have the space large enough to facilitate a large reef tank which would make the maintenance worth it. its much to easy for the levels to get screwed up if its a small tank

im setting up a 20 long in the spring.

Leory is a handsome fellow! Right now I have a dozen harlequin rasoboras in a 12 gallon planted tank but I've been neglecting it - it need a new light setup. It is planted with an assortment of crypts and java fern on driftwood. Also have a pair of japonica shrimp in there along with a dozen Red Cherry Shrimp. I also have 2 bettas, one veiltail male in a 2.5 gallon and a female crowntail in a 5 gallon. Also a 26 gallon with 2 goldfish. I tried some plants with the goldfish but they just see the plants as their salad bar!

Pretty bettaboy! I love your tank setup too. Do you have any newer shots of the tank? What is that smaller plant you have in front of the log?

I don't have a betta right now, but have kept them for years. I never had much luck with them in a tank with other fish, but kept one at a time in a 2 gal with good results.
I had a tank that ballenced really well with Cherry shrimp, Yamato shrimp, Neons and guppies. I really loved the shrimp. Now I have Angels and Clown loaches, as well as a koi pond.
