Maine Coon
My part Maine Coon "Hairy Harry" weighed 17 pounds before he disappeared. He loved to be petted and would sit and wait until he was invited to jump on my lap. At night, when I was reading in bed, he would jump up on the bed and walk up my body (ouch!) and flop down on my chest to be petted. When he had had enough, he would reverse the pattern and jump down from the bed. The funniest thing about him (and all 'Coons, I understand) was his love for playing in the water. DH had to rig up a double dish for the cat's water. (I had 3 at that time) He loved to drag the dish around and play in the water that spilled onto the floor. He preferred to drink out of the bathroom sink. I would turn on the water to a good drip and pat the counter to invite him to jump up. He was a little skittish but I blamed that on DH because DH was doing something he was concentrating on and the cat annoyed him. DH growled at him to scare him away and after that Harry seemed to get more skittish. The most difficult thing about him was his long hair. He did not like being brushed and he used to get full of burrs. If I ever get another one, I will bring him (or her) up differently regarding the grooming. He was an absolutely gorgeous kitten, too. I still miss him even though my current cat Cali is a lot of fun.

Sweet! Your Hairy Harry sounds like my cat. Although he's a persian without the ultra squished nose..(luckily; as that's an other problem) -he's a big cat too weighs 14 pounds (although not 'fat')
I have had several cats and am now convinced that male cats are less 'independant' & more loving & less moody' in general than females? Just my mind set... Sasha (in my avatar) comes to bed every night for 'cuddles' and lies on our chests too whilst we are reading. Just like Harry:
although, he doesn't love water, but accepts it but, adores the hairdryer!
We cut his knots off(when they start forming) with 'baby' scissors - ends of scissors are round, so no possibility of cutting him even when knots are next to the skin.
I would love a Maine Coon, they are absolute beauties!

As long as she is not in pain and enjoying life she will be the queen of the house.

Hope she's fine now.. 13 years! And still wants to play?
Any picture?

My neighbor's maine coon used to pay frequent visits to my house. He'd come indoors and made a habit of affectionately rubbing himself all over my lower legs and then nailing (bite) me in the calf. He didn't seem to be angry...just a bit worked up. I've known other cats to bite after affectionate rubbing too. Cats have diversified personalities.

Most uncoordinated cat ever. Only cuddles on her terms, but when she cuddles, she CUDDLES.
And does the adorable Coon "chirp" thing.
She also used to be verrry wary of strangers, but has gotten much more social once we introduced a more outgoing cat into the house.

You had luck! Also a friend of mine got a fabulous stray I like her cat very much!! And she also does the typical "chirp"... lovely...

So you know what means sleeping with 22 pounds on the chest while the female sleeps along my side... I'm always tired.. maybe my bed is uncomfortable?

I agree! Male cats are sweeter and less independent, for sure!

You're cats are so beautiful.
I forgot to mention. The neighbor's Maine Coon was an incredible hunter and he used to jump 4 or 5 feet straight up and bat down low flying birds. It was quite a spectacle and very impressive.

You're right. They are great hunter!
My male jumped down from a roof, landing in the garden to catch a bird...
