I am so jealous of you guys who can keep orchids in the same room as your cats. I have three cats, one of whom chews anything green and living to bits the second I turn my back.

I need to get some wardian cases for the rest of the house so I can enjoy my 'chids in the living room and study too!

Have you ever tried Bitter Apple or cayenne spray? My cats won't touch anything I spray.

I tried bitter apple with my last plant-eating cat, no luck. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try again. He has managed to chew up two Zygos, a Cattleya, a Max. tenuifolia, and an epidendrum seedling. So far, he doesn't seem interested in my Phal's, but I'm terrified to see what happens when they bloom around him. Basically, I could try it, but if it failed, it would mean more chewed plants.

he's a persistent bugger.

Get a super soaker water gun and everytime he goes near them fire away. Doesn't hurt him, or risk your chids. The only time this didn't work for me was the cat who enjoyed getting bathed, just gave me the look as if to say "Is that all you got? This ain't no big deal, I'm not even really wet, yet." She like clawing my curtains.
