Deb,
It makes me sick to hear of so many stories about animals being "thrown out of cars". Who would have the heart to throw that little girl out of a car???
I'm so glad you set aside your broken heart to save this little one. I understand that "it's too soon" feeling. I've learned, after getting my first rescue dog, that it all depends on WHY you want and have animals in your life.
Are you just an animal lover in general? Do you like having a pet because it is a cute piece of "property" and it is nothing more than an animal to you (some pet owners do feel this way)? Or...do you choose to be an animal rescuer with a big heart?
From all your pet posts that I've read, I'd say you are a true blue, certified, animal rescuer! That being said, it's NEVER too soon. I bet no animal (or human, probably) can ever replace Jasmine. Some of us pet parents mourn the loss of our fur babies for a long time. Meanwhile, many cats and dogs in terrible situations are hoping and waiting for a better life. Somebody here on OB mentioned.."they KNOW when they've been saved". I think it's so true. The non animal lovers believe cats and dogs are lesser species and don't know anything beyond the love for food. I beg to differ. I think they know much more.
I've had my rescue dog, Yuuki for about 2 months now. He does this weird thing whenever I pick him up and hold him in my lap. He tilts his head all the way up and stares into my face for a long time. I give him a kiss on the nose. Then he puts his head down, and leans his head against my chest and closes his eyes.
Thanks for giving little Lucy a new opportunity for happiness and life.
