If he comes to you for cuddles, reward him, and let him hang out with you as long as he wants. But if he gets defensive when it's "your idea" to cuddle, just leave him be and hang out near him. Keep in mind what I said about the differences between offensive and defensive.
Try putting some of your used shirts in his hiding places.

I know. I've showed him his bowl multiple times, but he's just not interested. But I left it out, so maybe when I get home, he will have eaten something from out of it...
