Izzie, what kind of kittie is she? My mom shows Norwegian Forest Cats and she looks just like them, and the size is about right as well!

She is a smokey black, 100% purebred Cutie Patootie. Aka, Domestic Long Hair.

I only say/suspect that she has some Maine Coon in her because of her size, conformation, and the chirping. Does not have the love of water. I've wondered about Norwegians as well- her head isn't quite triangulary enough.
She has a very long body, and short, solid legs.

I would LOVE a Norwegian some day. I couldn't afford to buy from a breeder, but I've been looking into breed rescues. That's awesome that your mom shows!

I found my Cali at petfinder.com
She was at the shelter in Galveston. You can specify breed, gender, age and other things in your search.

Sorry that it has taken a while to respond, I've been feeling rather crappy today from starting a new medication.
In all truthfulness, some cats are stiff as a board at the vet, and others change from angels to murdering machines. I can't even count the scars on my arms from cat scratches. Honestly, we kind of have a few systems for "tough cats" 1, is a cat muzzle, it covers their eyes, which will sometimes calm a cat even when there are loud buzzing noises (i.e. what you can't see won't hurt you.) 2, is the "Kitty Burrito" (towel wrap.) When we towel wrap, it's a very tight wrap, use a long towel that you can go around multiple times, and sometimes we still need to scruff them so that they don't dart out of the towel. 3, is called a "Stretch". The restrainer scruffs the cat and lays it on its side, using the forearm of the hand that you are scruffing with, keep it parallel with the cats body. Then, with the other hand, grasp the back two feet (if I find an illustration of this, I'll post it later.)
As for clippers, some clippers make more noise than others, at our clinic we have 2 pairs, one that is rather loud (they are our surgical prepping clippers) and the other has a very low vibrating noise.

Here's an image basically of what I'm trying to describe, however you can hold both back feet. I can't seem to find a very good image of this restraint, but they call it a "Stretch" because you stretch the cat's back so that it is parallel with your forearm. This is my preferred method of restraint with a cat that isn't being cooperative. Always be aware, that some cats cannot stand being scruffed. And scruff doesn't mean you have to hold real hard, sometimes, just holding your fingers lightly on the skin around the neck is enough to make a cat fall "limp" enough to work with. Hope some of this helps for later on in the future.

Well thank you! She doesn't often get comments on her loveliness since most of the time it's laughing at her lack of coordination- and extreme skiddishness. You click a pen, and she jumps. I'm an awful owner, I mess with her sometimes.
