yes cats metabolize meds very slowly - a baby aspirin is possibly fatal. No meds for cats without specific directions from a vet. I had some prescribed anti-inflammatory medication for my previous cat - he got a tiny tiny amount (like 1 or even half a mg, I don't exactly remember. Just a tiny amount of liquid in a little syringe) every 3 days.
I'm very sorry Jasmine doesn't seem to be feeling any better Is she at home with you, or at the vet? I hope she at least doesnt seem any worse.

Once again, I can't thank you all enough for your outpouring of support. I'd be lost without it.
The vet called and said Jasmine's test was positive for Cytauxzoonosis but that her white blood cells which should be very high, are low. So all the pieces of the puzzle for this disase are not in place.
I took her in this afternoon and he gave her Lactated Ringers under the skin for about 30 minutes and a B-12 shot and Decadron to help her feel better.
Her temperature was 103.4 and that's down from 104.9 yesterday at around the same time. She is still drinking and trying to eat a little bit. So that's good.
From what I've read about this disease (condition?) chances of survival are under 5%. But he said as long as she didn't turn yellow,(liver failure) she has a fighting chance...maybe.
Most of the time, a cat will begin to turn yellow within 3-4 days. Jassy was beginning to feel bad Sunday and then seemed to be okay Monday and was sick Tuesday when I took her to the vet. So, I'm not sure what day this is for her.
Her vet asked if I wanted him to keep her and I said no!! He then agreed that cat's do much better at home if their owner (mama) can and will give medicine and the right care.
She'll be going back everyday for fluids and he will monitor her. The longer she hangs in there, the better chance she has of survival.
So, that's where we are. She has hope, however slim it may be. In my heart I know that hope came from all you!!
I'll keep you posted. PLEASE! keep sending all those good thoughts and vibes and prayers!!!!!!!!

As long as she is taking fluids there is a chance. We are still praying for you both. Hang in there! Because of you Jasmine is doing her best to fight this.

try to give her high energy supplement. I gave my cats Nutriplus gel especially when they are sick or as a treat. Many love it!

Thank you for thinking of us again this morning. I really can't tell how she is. Quieter, probably weaker. She doesn't seem to be in any pain. Still has fever but I think it's donw some. She just doesn't have the energy to move. Sad.
Her ears still look pink, though and I'm hoping that's a good sign. Back to the vet this afternoon.
